Veterans Field
Step into the rich history and tribute at Veterans Field, a cherished community park that emerged following World War II. The site was originally cleared of Quonset hut housing for returning veterans, and by 1953, it began its transformation into a public ball field complex.
Veterans Field is dedicated "In Memory of all who Served" and serves as a lasting tribute to veterans. The park is home to various youth athletic programs, including baseball, softball, and Parks & Recreation youth football. Special School District 6 also uses the facility for fall soccer and spring baseball.
Park amenities include four well-maintained softball/baseball fields—one with lights for evening games—a batting cage, and a large playground structure. A restroom and concession building, paired with a nearby picnic shelter, provides comfort and convenience for families and spectators.
In September 2010, a Veterans Memorial Monument titled "Tribute to all Veterans" was installed, honoring the sacrifices of service members. This monument was made possible through the efforts of local and regional Veterans organizations.
Veterans Field stands as a place where community recreation and respectful remembrance intersect. Visit to celebrate the spirit of service and enjoy a welcoming recreational environment.
