Mission Statement
The mission of the South St. Paul Police Department is to ensure public safety and provide assistance to the community through prompt response, thorough investigation, pro-active policing, and community involvement. We hold ourselves to the values of integrity, professionalism, and courtesy.
Using 911
Dial 911 for any situation requiring police, fire, or emergency medical response. This includes non-emergency incidents such as reporting a crime, traffic concern, or suspicious activity.
Improper Use of 911
Do not use 911 for non-urgent information requests such as:
- Checking the status of a report or investigation
- Inquiring about impounded animals or vehicles
- Obtaining information about an individual under arrest
- Requesting a police report copy

Snowbird Notification
The City plows all public streets and alleys after snowfalls of two inches or more. After initial plowing, the Police Department tags vehicles not moved from city streets. Tagged vehicles not moved by 9:00 a.m. the next day will be towed to allow full curb-to-curb clearing.
