Members
The Charter Commission consists of nine members. Each member may serve up to two four-year terms.
Duties
The City Charter enables South St. Paul to be a self-governing city under municipal home rule provisions and state law. The district court appoints the City Charter Commission based on recommendations from the city council.
The commission ensures the charter remains up to date through procedures authorized by state statutes. The charter defines the structure of South St. Paul’s city government and outlines its governing procedures.
