Other Inspection Information

Roof and Siding Inspections

Photos of the ice and water barrier application and house wrap are acceptable before scheduling your final inspection. You may bring them to our office or email them to Renee Schmitt at rschmitt@sspmn.org. Please include the property address in the subject line. We will respond with an inspection date. All three-tab shingles must have a 115 mph wind rating.

Windows and Doors Inspections

The Building Inspector must access your home to check for smoke and carbon monoxide detectors and their placement. See this handout (PDF) for placement guidelines.

Backflow Prevention

The testing requirements for testable non-RPZ devices became effective for installations on or after January 23, 2016. The Minnesota State Plumbing Code requires that all testable backflow devices be tested upon installation and annually thereafter by a certified backflow assembly tester.
