Kwik Trip

Years in Business: Kwik Trip has been in business for over 52 years as a company—2½ years in South St. Paul.

Products/Services/Markets Served: In addition to offering automotive and truck fuel, Kwik Trip serves as a food and commodities destination for its customers. Kwik Trip operates its own commissary, bakery, dairy, beverage line, ice plant, and banana ripening facility. The facilities are FDA-approved and produce Kwik Trip’s own line of sandwiches, soups, salads, fresh bakery products—including white and wheat bread, buns, muffins, donuts, cookies, and bagels—as well as the Nature’s Touch brand of dairy products, Milk-in-the-Bag, ice cream, and bottled water. Eighty percent of the products sold in stores are produced by Kwik Trip. In many food deserts, we serve as the neighborhood grocery store.

Business Leadership: Kwik Trip’s vertically integrated approach to selling food and commodities has been so successful that the chain is now growing by forty new stores each year in Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Iowa. The company has been recognized as a Top Workplace in Minnesota by the Minneapolis Star Tribune for each of the last eight years and has been ranked among the top ten employers in Minnesota. Kwik Trip is widely recognized as a family-owned success story, known for sharing 40% of all pre-tax profits with its 22,000 coworkers every year since 1989.

Brief Testimonial: We have enjoyed positive relationships as neighbors in South St. Paul, which makes it easy to live our mission every day: Serve our customers and community more effectively than anyone else by treating our customers, co-workers, and suppliers as we, personally, would like to be treated, and make a difference in someone’s life.
