Polling Locations - Changes for 2026
During 2025, the City Clerk's office analyzed the current city precincts to assess the functionality of current polling locations and determine if changes to polling locations or the addition of precincts was needed to better accommodate the voters of the city. After careful review and discussion with the City Council, the best option to achieve a more even distribution of voters across the city would be to create an additional precinct. This change evens out the voters across the city by dividing Precinct 5 in half and creating a 6th precinct in the area north of 494, and using Woog Arena as the polling location for this new precinct.
In addition, it was determined that Precinct 3, located at Luther Memorial Church, was very large (3,221 registered voters) and Precinct 4, located at the Lawshe Museum was very small, with only 820 registered voters assigned to the precinct. There was an opportunity to relocate some of the Precinct 3 voters to Precinct 4. In all, approximately, 764 Precinct 3 voters will be moved to Precinct 4 and vote at the Lawshe Museum.
Another change that was made was the polling location for Precinct 5, which had previously been located at the Kaposia Education Center. Due to a number of concerns about using a school building as a polling location on a school day which included security, parking and traffic concerns, the decision was made to change the polling location for Precinct 5, from Kaposia Education Center to the Wakota Ridge Campus of Woodbury Lutheran Church.
Affected voters for all of these changes will receive cards in the mail, and as always, if you are uncertain about where to vote you can contact the City Clerk's Office at 651-554-3204 or follow the link below and find your polling location.
