Police Department Citizen's Academy

About the Citizen's Academy

The South St. Paul Police Department’s Citizen's Academy is an educational and informative program that allows residents to learn about the challenges and responsibilities of law enforcement in our community. It provides insight into the department’s philosophy, operations, and efforts to build stronger ties with the community.

Creating a Safer Environment

Community-based policing is vital for crime prevention and public safety. The Citizen's Academy is one tool used to educate the public, improve communication, and foster mutual understanding and support between the police and community members.

Citizen's Academy Objective

The objective is not to train residents as reserve officers, but to create informed citizens. This face-to-face engagement allows residents to see beyond the badge and connect with the individuals serving their community.

Citizen's Academy Goals

The Academy aims to strengthen relationships, enhance communication, and help reduce crime through greater understanding and collaboration.
