The Finance Department’s mission is to safeguard city assets, provide timely and high-quality services to internal and external customers, and continuously seek positive improvements.

Services Provided

The Finance Department is responsible for managing the City’s financial operations, including:

  • Issuing bonds or other forms of city debt
  • Administering grants and intergovernmental revenue
  • Managing billing and collection for public utilities
  • Collecting revenues and investing idle funds
  • Processing payments for city purchases
  • Preparing financial and budget reports
  • Processing payroll for all city employees
  • Assisting with the five-year Capital Improvement Plan
  • Overseeing financial management and accounting for all city funds
  • Coordinating with Dakota County to maintain special assessment records
