In November 2025, the South St. Paul City Council voted to deconstruct the Armour Gates to allow for new development. Bricks from the gates were saved for community use.
On January 12, the City Council approved the creation of the Armour Gates Community Memorial Task Force. The task force will gather input, develop ideas, and make recommendations to the City Council on how to use the saved bricks in a community memorial.
The City is seeking 9 to 11 residents, business owners, and other interested community members to serve on the task force. The group will meet over the next six months and present a final recommendation to the City Council for review and approval.
To apply for the Armour Gates Community Memorial Task Force, complete this form. Applications are due by noon on January 30.
