After more than 35 years of service, South St. Paul's Residential Yard Waste Drop-Off Site will permanently close following the 2025 season. The final day of operation will be Sunday, November 16, 2025.
The closure is part of the City’s long-range plans to extend Verderosa Avenue and construct a new Public Works facility on the current compost site. Construction is scheduled to begin in spring 2026 and will continue through late 2027.
Rebuilding the yard waste site as part of the project would cost nearly $454,000 and does not align with the area's future use for business and recreational development. The decision to close the facility supports the City’s infrastructure goals while ensuring residents continue to have access to affordable, convenient yard waste disposal options.
