Both directions of I-494 between Blaine Avenue and Babcock Trail in Inver Grove Heights will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday, May 9, to 5 a.m. Monday, May 12, for bridge demolition and ramp work, according to MnDOT.

Ramp Closures Begin May 8:
Starting at 9 p.m. Thursday, May 8, the following ramps will close through July 22:

• Westbound I-494 to southbound Hwy 52

• Southbound Hwy 52 to eastbound I-494

Detours During Weekend Closure:

• Westbound I-494: Use northbound Hwy 52 → Mendota Rd → southbound Hwy 52 → westbound I-494

• Eastbound I-494: Use southbound Hwy 52 → eastbound 70th St → northbound Hwy 52 → eastbound I-494

Following the weekend, Hwy 52 traffic will shift to head-to-head on the northbound bridge between Upper 55th St and Mendota Rd/Southview Blvd. The closed ramps will remain shut through July 22.

This work supports a broader project to redeck and repaint the Hwy 52 bridges over I-494, scheduled to wrap up by November 2025.
